BTW, in Ecuador (if you dont know where it is, its in south america), we use american dollars. so, will i get taxed the same way as americans when buyng stocks (or any)?

I have $5K for my REGULAR investment account.
Should I buy a few ETF’s to cover a broad range of investments and create a diversified portfolio or buy a good mutual fund?
I am planning on holding for 5 years. I don’t want to invest in stocks.

XLF is an exchange traded fund.
QQQQ is a unit investment trust.
BEP is a closed end fund.

I’m a scott trade account owner, I’ve been trading with general stocks for a good time.. If I were to buy ETFs.. Do I just simply purchase it like I would to buy a general stock?
For example: If I want to buy CHN (ETF), I just do it like I would buy Apple (Appl)?

I find ETF’s charges to be as low as the cheapest MF, are more convenient to buy and sell (no forms to fill) and much easier to figure out what the are investing in. Their name makes this perfectly clear.
