I received a negative long term gain distribution from a mutual fund and it reduced the cash in my cash account. Is this right? If I had no cash in my account what would happen? I also received a positive long term gain distribution from the same investment, although of a smaller [...]

Basically, I have a Roth IRA with a financial services company, Raymond James. I am moving out of their mutual funds and taking it to a lower-cost self-directed service because I’m simply better at picking positions than their mutual fund manages. Will my mutual fund account be liquidated if it falls below the minimum investment?
I’m looking at Vanguard funds. In the prospectus under “low balance accounts” it says that if a fund account falls below the minimum investment for any reason including market fluctuation, they reserve the right to liquidate it. Does this happen often in practice? Will they close my account if it falls (or if I withdraw [...]
What do you think about moving out “cash balance” money from company Pension account to an IRA rollover?
I’m 51 years old, recently retired and has $159K in cash balance account that our pension plan credits with 5% interest credit/year.
I’m assuming on an average year, the stock/mutual funds/ETFs will probably generate between 5% and 10%/year. This $159K present value will give me about $2,358/month for life at age 65.
Will it better to [...]
